The Ministry Of Mineral Resources And Energy Announces The Move Of The Carbon Capture Utilisation And Storage Programme From The South African National Energy Development Institute To The Council For Geoscience

The Budget Vote Speech of the Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy, 22 July 2020, announced a resolution to appoint the Council for Geoscience (CGS) as the implementing state agency for the Carbon Capture Utilisation and Storage (CCUS) programme, previously implemented by the South African National Energy Development Institute (SANEDI). The change was brought about to streamline the State-Owned Entities and to accelerate the implementation of the project under the CGS mandate to undertake geological work in South Africa. The acceleration will address the growing international concerns regarding climate change.
